Building the enclosure

We started by looking around the garden for a suitable place to build Molly a run. Alot of the places we looked at were uneven or didn't get the sun or were just wrong. We eventually settled on a crazy paving area between the back porch and the conservatory at the back of our house.

We used the timber shown in the list of materials to build a wall across the area, screwing the lengths together with some very long screws .

u bend cable

For the 1st couple of months the electric cable was dangling out of a window, it was important that there was a 'U bend' in the cable to prevent water running into the electric socket in the kennel. Then we added outdoor sockets which is alot safer.

I took up a lot of the paving stones. The base was not a problem as Molly isn't really a digger. As you can see its alot less tidy now the plants have grown wild.

Mollys's 1st enclosure started with a 2nd hand kennel and a shower screen acquired from a skip. We have gradually added to it and improved thing as finances allowed. There is now more plants and a purpose built conservatory to replace the shower screen.

This is a video of how someone else constructed their boundary. It's not exactly how we did it but it gives you an idea. Thanks James.
